Episode 8 - No Blackbirds Were Harmed In The Baking of This Pie

Episode 8 - No Blackbirds Were Harmed In The Baking of This Pie

Sing a song of six pence, a pocket full of rye. Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. When the pie was opened, the birds began to sing. Wasn’t that a dainty dish to set before the king?

Was it, though? Classically, black birds are thought to be bad luck or omens of death. In the rest of the nursery rhyme one of the birds goes on to snip off some poor girl’s nose. How did the birds survive the baking? Because, they’re powerful beings, of course. Along with owls, condors, bats, ravens and crows, and tiny, flitting moths. Now, my blueberry pie has no birds in it, but I’d be glad to share it with you as we sing of black birds and powerful omens.

All research was done by Sonne and Czarria. All editing was done by Czarria. And then done again.

Theme song is by Kevin McCleod

Pie baked by Sonne, with no official recipe.
